Homeowners in NJ and NYC find it hard to escape persistent attacks from mosquitoes. Once warm weather hits, you can bet on swarms of them being wherever people are. If this includes your home, you will need an aggressive attack against this annoying insect if you want to freely enjoy your outdoor spaces again.

The Right Arsenal on Hand to Keep Your Home Mosquito Free

Mosquitoes are more than just a pesky nuisance. They are a plague with wings, responsible for more human suffering than any other insect on the planet. Since they have no preference for human or animal blood, they can easily transmit diseases from one host to the next.

The West Nile virus has been of serious concern to both residents of NJ and NYC for over a decade, but other diseases, such as dengue, malaria, and chikungunya are also known to be spread by mosquitoes and can quickly cause life-threatening symptoms if contracted.

Titan Pest Control Takes Mosquito Control Seriously

The exterminators at Titan Pest Control are NJ and NYC residents, just like you. We have a vested interest in eradicating the malicious mosquito to protect your family from illness as well as our own. When you rely on Titan Pest Control to take care of your mosquito problem, you can rest assured that we will not stop until your home is a safe haven again.

Mosquito Facts That Will Make You Itch in Fear

  • There are over 175 species of mosquitoes in the United States alone.
  • Female mosquitoes need blood in order for her eggs to develop.
  • A mosquito is able to drink 3 times their weight in blood.
  • Female mosquitoes lay up to 300 eggs at one time.
  • A mosquito will spend its first 10 days after hatching inside of water.
  • Mosquitoes are able to smell human breath and are drawn to the carbon dioxide that we exhale.
  • Mosquitoes have heat sensors that allow them to zero in on a good capillary to feed from.
  • Bug zappers do little to protect your yard from mosquitoes.

What Does a Mosquito Look Like?

mosquito-exterminator-nycA mosquito is a type of fly, with only one pair of wings. They have long slender legs attached to an equally slender body. This often gives the impression that these are fragile insects; but do not be fooled, the mosquito is much more resilient then they look.

The distinguishing feature of the mosquito is the long proboscis or nose. This is the body part that the female mosquito uses to penetrate your skin and draw blood to feed. It is when they insert the proboscis into various people that you are being exposed to disease.

How Do Mosquitoes Breed?

There are distinct male and female mosquitoes, with the male using antennae to seek and procreate with the female. Once the mating is complete, the female actively seeks a source of blood in order to help in the production of her eggs. Eggs are then laid in standing water, where they will hatch and grow for approximately 10 days before rising to the surface to begin a new cycle of pesky behavior.

The Mosquito Attack Launched by Titan Pest Control

Mosquito elimination from your property is a multi-step process, where exterminators from Titan Pest Control will both uncover and eliminate breeding areas and work towards reducing the active population. Vegetation will be treated to eliminate mosquitoes in their resting grounds, and a comprehensive plan will be enacted to ensure that future generations will have no place to grow and thrive.

Recognizing a Mosquito Problem

If your property has a mosquito problem, you will quickly know it once you step outside. Female mosquitoes are like heat seeking missiles, flying high and low to find a target to attack. Some people may not feel the bite of the mosquito, but there is no mistaking the itchy bump that they leave behind when they have had their fill of your blood. Other signs to look for include:

  • The persistent buzzing of the hungry female mosquito.
  • Small, wormlike creatures swimming inside of standing water on your property.
